In the heart of Saint Petersburg, there was a bright light that shone through the everyday hustle—
a light known to many as DaQuanese “Niecy” Lee. For those who had the privilege of knowing her, DaQuanese was a warm and welcoming soul, a kindred spirit whose infectious smile and caring heart touched everyone who crossed her path. Whether she was serving waffles at Saint Pete Beach’s Waffle House or dishing out sweet treats at Sprinkles Ice Cream, Niecy’s presence was one of joy and genuine kindness.
Her community adored her, especially the regulars at both businesses, with whom she shared not just food but stories of her life—especially the growth of her two young children. As a proud mother, DaQuanese often showed off pictures of her kids, celebrating their milestones with a sparkle in her eye. Those who knew her well will always remember her as someone who could brighten the darkest of days with her unwavering spirit.
At the young age of 27, DaQuanese faced a health crisis that no one saw coming. She required a heart transplant, a moment that tested her strength in unimaginable ways. But even in the face of this challenge, Niecy never lost her bright outlook on life. Grateful to God and her donor, she wore her battle scars as a testament to her resilience. However, despite her brave fight, just two years later, DaQuanese’s heart failed once again. On November 3, 2024, she tragically passed away at just 29 years old, leaving behind her two children, ages 5 and 7.
In the wake of such a profound loss, Crisis Connect has been there for DaQuanese’s family, offering not just emotional support but also financial assistance to help them navigate this difficult time. The holidays without Niecy were the first of many “firsts” her children and loved ones would face, and Crisis Connect has been a steady source of compassion and care.
While the pain of losing such a beloved member of the community will never truly go away, Crisis Connect is committed to being there for her family, offering the ongoing support they need to move forward. The children are at the heart of this support, and Crisis Connect will continue to help meet their needs as they grow up without their mother.
DaQuanese’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Her story is a reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to support each other in times of need. Through Crisis Connect, her community is showing that the bonds we form can help carry us through even the most difficult moments.
