At 58, Dawn was once again facing homelessness,
a reality she had endured many times before. Her car had served as her shelter on countless nights. After losing her husband and eldest son, and now reliant on disability after a serious car accident, Dawn found herself with no way to escape an impending eviction. Her car would once more become her home.
A mutual friend shared Dawn’s situation with David Yates, and Crisis Connect quickly stepped in to help. They negotiated with her landlord to buy her time as she found a better, larger trailer, preventing her from becoming homeless. Crisis Connect didn’t stop there; they assisted with her monthly bills, repaired electrical wiring, provided new window AC units, and even evacuated her during a hurricane. “You are all angels sent from above,” Dawn said, smiling through tears in her cheerfully decorated trailer.
